TOPIC

Primary care clinicians need to be aware of best practices in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of epilepsy.

This activity is designed specifically for primary care clinicians and registered nurses who care for patients who live in rural and underserved areas.

These 1-hour, virtual live sessions use the free, interactive videoconferencing platform Zoom to connect front-line clinicians with a subject matter expert.

This way, clinicians, patients, and scientists can discuss, in real-time, all the critical aspects of access and providing care for patients with epilepsy.

Participants are encouraged to ask questions and submit cases for discussion.

Each session includes a short didactic component, case-based discussion, and question and answer segment.

Complimentary continuing education credit is available for each session.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Accurately diagnose and classify epilepsy based on current guidelines and assessment tools
  • Apply knowledge of the latest guidelines and clinical evidence to develop individualized treatment plans for patients with epilepsy
  • Utilize strategies to improve access to care in rural settings, including teleneurology, with the goal of reducing seizure burden and improving quality of life in patients with epilepsy
