Virtual teams have developed from an “exotic” niche phenomenon to established work design in many organizations. 

Due to the digitalization and continuous development of new and established tools for virtual collaboration, today’s business landscape has changed tremendously so that global virtual teams (GVT) become the main form of “organization” across cultures.

Nowadays GVTs are central to a number of different areas of work, education, and universities. Managers and team members promise themselves different kinds of benefits from working virtually in global environments.
